BOSTON -- Jarome Iginlas slow start in Boston is now a distant memory. Iginla scored two goals, Tuukka Rask stopped 33 shots, and the Eastern Conference-leading Bruins extended their winning streak to nine games with a 4-1 win over the Minnesota Wild on Monday night. Signed during the off-season to replace departed free agent Nathan Horton on the Bruins top line, Iginla has fit in perfectly. "We lose a guy that we thought would be back for us, in Horton. That was a big hole to fill," Bruins coach Claude Julien said. "Hes come in and filled that hole really well. You mention the stats, he brings us the same thing the other guy did with his size and scoring ability. Hes done a great job. "Were talking about a veteran here with tremendous leadership qualities. Hes certainly been a great asset to our team." Iginlas scoring didnt come for a while with Boston. He didnt net his first goal until his ninth game, and had just five in his first 29. But now he is scoring goals even when his shots are blocked. The Bruins grabbed a 1-0 lead 3:52 into the second period on Iginlas first of the game. His shot was deflected by the stick of defenceman Jonas Brodin and popped into the air. Wild goalie Darcy Kuemper appeared to lose sight of the puck, and it bounced between his pads just before he dropped. Iginla was smiling along the boards when his teammates came to congratulate him. Iginla added an empty-netter, his team-leading 25th goal, with 65 seconds to play. "It was a very fluky, fortunate bounce goal. Ill definitely take them," he said, flashing a similar smile while standing in front of his locker. The Bruins increased their conference lead to five points over idle second-place Pittsburgh by posting their longest winning streak since a 10-game run in November 2011. Boston is 12-1-2 in its last 15 games. Loui Eriksson and Reilly Smith also scored for Boston, which beat the Wild at home for the first time after losing the first six meetings. The Bruins are 3-10 overall against the Wild, who began play in the 2000-01 season. "They were real consistent in how they played," Minnesota defenceman Keith Ballard said. "Theyve got good balance to their lineup." Jason Pominville had the only goal for Minnesota, which lost for the fifth time in six games, but three of those defeats came in shootouts. Kuemper made 25 saves. About 2 1-2 minutes after Iginlas first goal, Rask robbed Mikko Koivu with a glove stop on a shot from in front. He also made a right-pad save on Nino Niederreiters shot from the left circle with just over 2 1-2 minutes left in the game. "Our goaltending has been outstanding all year without question," Iginla said. "They give us a chance every night with big momentum shifts. We also feel as the game goes on we can start playing physical to start taking over the game and try to wear teams down." Rask played like what the Wild expected to face. "He was very good. We knew that going into the game, and he was as good as people say he is," Koivu said. "He made some great saves." Boston made it 2-0 at 11:55 when Carl Soderberg circled the net and sent a backhanded pass across the crease and through a group of players to Eriksson, who one-timed it into the net. Pominville cut it to 2-1 with 1:26 left in the second. He unloaded a slap shot, and the blade of his stick broke. It flew toward Rask as the puck sailed by his glove inside the near post. Smith scored off the rebound of Bergerons shot, making it 3-1 at 7:50 of the third. NOTES: Bruins defenceman and captain Zdeno Chara will turn 37 on Tuesday. ... Boston D Johnny Boychuk missed the game because of a lower-body injury. He went into the boards awkwardly Saturday in a win against Carolina and was helped to the bench, favouring his right leg. He returned and blocked a shot with that leg on his next shift and went to the bench slowly again. He tested the leg Monday morning and said it was too sore for him to play. ... The Bruins have never scored a power-play goal against the Wild, going 0 for 36. Boston had no power plays in the game. ... Iginla became the 55th player and the fifth active one to play in 1,300 NHL games. Eric Lindros Jersey . At a news conference Tuesday where it was thought that the fiery Schallibaum may be shown the door after a dismal finish to the Major League Soccer season, team president Joey Saputo said no decision has been made on whether the Swiss Volcano will be back in 2014. Bill Barber Jersey . Saltalamacchia has agreed to a $21 million, three-year deal with the Miami Marlins, two people familiar with the negotiations said Tuesday. http://www.flyersauthority.com/. Bowditch, the 30-year-old Australian seeking his first PGA Tour title, shot a 4-under 68 to reach 12 under at TPC San Antonio. Matt Kuchar and Andrew Loupe were tied for second. Kuchar shot 65, and Loupe had a 70. Ivan Provorov Jersey .What they got was a bevy of players chipping in to pick up the slack.Josh Smith scored 18 points and James Harden added 17 as the Rockets used a balanced scoring effort to outlast the Mavericks for a 99-94 victory. Anthony Stolarz Jersey . Alina Fodorova of Ukraine took third place. Broersen based her gold-medal performance on great high jumping, and finished with 4,830 points, while Theisen-Eaton, from Humboldt, Sask., set a national record of 4,768.KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Alex Smith doesnt care how the Kansas City Chiefs score touchdowns. It could be on running plays with Jamaal Charles and Knile Davis. It could be short passes to tight ends Travis Kelce or Anthony Fasano. As long as they are putting up touchdowns, and the Chiefs are piling up wins, the veteran quarterback will be happy.Nope, it doesnt bother Smith at all that no wide receiver has a TD catch this season. The most important thing is that were scoring, Smith said after a 24-10 victory over the New York Jets on Sunday. I think that speaks to the guys we have — we dont have guys looking at their numbers and fantasy numbers every week.Besides, the Chiefs (5-3) have won three straight and five of six. Charles and Davis have become a potent one-two punch, and their stingy defence shut down the Jets (1-8) in a game that was never really in doubt after the Chiefs took a 14-0 lead by the end of the first quarter. So if the biggest quibble in Kansas City right now is the inability of wide receivers Dwayne Bowe and A.J. Jenkins to get into the end zone, so be it.Im proud of them for starting with two losses and then coming back, putting some things together, getting some wins together, Chiefs coach Andy Reid said.Meanwhile, the Jets slide continued with another lacklustre performance.Michael Vick, starting in place of the injured Geno Smith, threw for 196 yards and a touchdown, missing one series in the fourth quarter after taking a blow to the head. He played well enough that embattled coach Rex Ryan plans to stick with him next week against Pittsburgh, but not well enough that the Jets could avoid their eighth consecutive defeat.I know I can still start, said Vick, who went through the NFLs concussion protocol before he was cleared to finish the game. Ive played in this league a long time and I believe in what I can do. ... Ill do everything in my power to get this turned around. The Jets hadnt lost eight straight games since 1996, when they went 1-15 in ttheir final year under Rich Kotite.ddddddddddddThe franchise has never lost nine in a row, an embarrassment the Jets will try to avoid Sunday against the Steelers. This team, I think, you misjudge the character if you think losses are the only thing that identify this team. Thats not the case, Ryan said, when asked about the seemingly endless string of losses. This team is made up off character and these are mighty men. I hope like hell we dont have to endure too many more but we will, if thats the case.HOUSTON, WE HAVE A PROBLEM: Chiefs linebacker Justin Houston, who had an NFL-leading 10 sacks entering the game, had two more on Sunday. He also sacked Vick 4 1/2 times last year, when the Chiefs played the Eagles. Its a group effort, Houston said. Im receiving all the credit, but I cant do it without everybody else.SPEAKING OF SACKS: The Jets had 24 sacks coming into the game, tied with the Chiefs for fourth-most in the NFL. Jason Babin had their only sack Sunday, and it didnt happen until there was about 2 minutes left. Yeah, that was one I was just going to keep the clock rolling rather than throwing the ball away there, Smith said.CHIEFS CRY PERCY: Jets wide receiver Percy Harvin was the lone bright spot, catching 11 passes for 129 yards in his second game since getting traded from Seattle. Overall, execution of the offence was pretty good, he said, other than we couldnt punch the ball in.BOWE PLATEAU: Bowe may not have a TD catch this season, but he still managed to reach another milestone. With six catches for 55 yards, he surpassed 500 catches in his career. Tony Gonzalez holds the franchise record with 916.GOAL-LINE GATE: The Chiefs have been impenetrable at the goal line this season, the only team in the NFL that has not allowed a rushing touchdown. The Jets had a couple of chances from the 3, throwing a TD pass on one of them and an incompletion on fourth down on another.___AP NFL website: www.pro32.ap.org and http://twitter.com/AP_NFL Cheap Soccer Jerseys Authentic Wholesale Hockey Jerseys Nike NFL Jerseys China Cheap Nike MLB Jerseys China Wholesale Baseball Jerseys China Wholesale College Jerseys Cheap Jerseys From China Wholesale Jerseys Near Me Cheap Jerseys Online Cheap NFL Jerseys Authentic Cheap Nike NFL Jerseys Authentic Cheap Soccer Jerseys China Cheap NCAA Jerseys Authentic Cheap Nike NBA Jerseys Cheap NHL Jerseys Authentic MLB Jerseys China Cheap Jerseys From China Cheap NFL Throwback Jerseys Cheap Nike NFL Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys China ' ' '
